What kinds of shelters do people build to protect themselves?

  1. This one was pretty vague and its hard to look at out of context with the chapters. and then I still have problems. But I think we are really good at building "stuff" for ourselves that can lead us to believe that we are in control of our own lives. Houses, jobs, relationships, managing illness, anything and everything. That of course couldn't be further from the truth. We don't have the ability to manage our own lives - not successfully anyway and certainly not with the love and freedom that God can give us. We were created for God and we must have God to deal with these things. On our own we are nothing. Those things can easily become strong holds, ie unforgiveness, pride etc. (so say I! :)) mcr

  2. I?m really not sure how to answer this question. Shelter from captivity or shelter perpetuating captivity? Can I skip and see what other people think? ps

  3. Lots of barriers we build for ourselves, which protect us...can end up hurting us...for instance, I grew up in an alcoholic home (father)..therefore, I grew up with trust issues, only thought I could depend on myself...now that might have gotten me through the night..so to speak...but it caused great problems with my first marriage...particularly, when I decided I could not trust him to do what I thought was best for me and my children....KH
